Qualifying English Test (QET), Academic Year 2009/2010
The QET will be held on Thu 19 November 2009 from 0900 to 1115. Students who do not meet the exemption criteria and have not yet sat for the QET are required to do so. Please check the QET website for the full information.

Scaling New Heights in a Changed World

Our world is changing rapidly and profoundly. As our Prime Minister, Mr Lee Hsien Loong noted in his speech to Parliament on 29 May, "After this crisis, the world is not going to be the same again. It's not just another cyclical downturn and recovery. The world's economy is undergoing a structural shift."

	The NUS Logistics Institute – Asia Pacific won the Education & Training Award 2009 The NUS Logistics Institute – Asia Pacific (TLI - Asia Pacific) clinched the Education & Training Award at the Supply Chain Asia Logistics Awards 2009. The Award is a recognition of TLI - Asia Pacific as a leader in the field of education and training in the supply chain and logistics industry in Asia.
	Inaugurating the NUS Solar Energy Research Institute's new premises The inauguration of the new premises of the NUS Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore (SERIS) was held on 19 November 2009. Gracing the event was Guest-of-Honour Chairman of the National Research Foundation Dr Tony Tan, as well as some 250 local and international guests from the industry, government and research sectors.
	Inaugural "Frontiers in Cancer Science" conference shares advances and breakthroughs in cancer science Themed "Frontiers in Cancer Science", the inaugural conference by the NUS Cancer Science Institute (CSI) held on 16 and 17 November brought together some 21 of the world's top cancer experts to share their latest advances and breakthroughs in the areas of cancer science, stem cell research and anti-cancer drug discoveries. The conference was organised to mark the institute’s first anniversary.
	Prime Minister of Australia visits The Honourable Kevin Rudd, Prime Minister of Australia, announced the creation of a new Australian international scholarship programme "The Australia Awards" at the University Cultural Centre Theatre on 13 November 2009.
	Buildings at NUS Bukit Timah Campus now a part of Singapore's Heritage Six buildings in the campus of the Former Raffles College, now known as the NUS Bukit Timah Campus and home to the Law Faculty, the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy and four Research Institutes, will be preserved as National Monuments. This was announced by the National Heritage Board (NHB) on 11 November 2009.
	NUS Business School ranked first in Asia in the Eduniversal 2009 Rankings NUS Business School (BIZ) took the top spot in this year’s Eduniversal Rankings, the first among all Business Schools in Asia and NUS BIZ is also ranked 25th in the Global Top 100 Business Schools. NUS BIZ received five palmes, which is the highest category of ranking.
	Illustrious individuals recognised at Alumni Awards 2009 In recognition of their outstanding achievements in various fields, both internationally or locally, and for having rendered excellent and sustained service to NUS or the alumni community, 20 distinguished alumni received the NUS Alumni Awards on 10 November 2009.
	NUS Business School Leadership Dialogue session - values in the working world As part of the NUS Business School Leadership Dialogue series, students, alumni and staff from NUS had the opportunity to meet CEO of Singapore Exchange Mr Hsieh Fu Hua at the second session in November this year, where he gave his insights on the fundamentals of values and the roles of ethics in the business world.
	Tan Ean Kiam Arts Awards promotes arts excellence on campus The inaugural Tan Ean Kiam Arts Awards was launched on 31 October 2009 at the University Cultural Centre Theatre, to honour the best of NUS Centre For the Arts (CFA)'s 23 arts groups, comprising students and alumni, who have excelled artistically and contributed significantly to CFA, NUS and the community.
	NUS clinician scientists obtain prestigious Singapore Translational Research Investigator Awards Prof H. Phillip Koeffler of the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Prof David Bruce Matchar, Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School (Duke-NUS GMS) were among the three clinician scientists to have received the prestigious Singapore Translational Research (STaR) Investigator Awards.
	Honoured at the Student Achievement Awards 2009 NUS recognised individual students and student groups at its annual Student Achievement Awards 2009. These students are given recognition for their outstanding achievements inactivities outside the academic curriculum and for bringing honour to the University.
	Centre for International Law to promote international law research and education in the region International law cannot call itself “international” without the voice of Asia. Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Prof S Jayakumar told the audience at the launch of the Centre for International Law (CIL) on 31 October 2009.
